Bay Area Food Banks is a collaboration of seven local food banks serving 10 northern California counties.
 
Nearly 90.3 million pounds of food was distributed to adults and children in need last year through 1,560 food pantries.

Though most of the food is donated, participating food banks are able to obtain purchased food at low cost so that every dollar donated goes even further.

In addition, each food bank serves targeted geographic areas, which prevents duplication of food distribution efforts.
