San
Francisco--KBHK-TV (UPN Bay Area, Channel 44, Cable 12) changed its
call letters to KBCW-TV (The Bay Area CW, Channel 44, Cable 12)
effective July 1, 2006. The UPN network will cease operation on
September 18th with the merge of the WB and UPN into the new network,
CW. KBCW is a CW station owned and operated by CBS.
KBCW-TV's website will be
cwbayarea.com.

5/The Bay Area CW are part of the CBS Television Stations, CBS
Television Stations division, one of the largest network-owned station
groups consisting of 21 CBS, 15 UPN, one WB and two stations not
affiliated with major networks.
CBS 5 (
www.cbs5.com) began in 1948 as the first television station in Northern California. UPN Bay Area (
www.upnbayarea.com)
began in 1968 as the first UHF station in the Bay area. The two
stations became a CBS/UPN duopoly in 2002. With the change of call
letters, the stations are a CBS/CW duopoly.
